Free Government Phones

BOSS Wireless ACP Plans

As a participating provider in the Affordable Connectivity Program, BOSS Wireless offers eligible low-income families free cell phone service. BOSS Wireless ACP ProgramTheir nationwide 5G and 4G LTE plan includes unlimited talk, text, and data, plus 6 GB data at high speed. It also includes a mobile hotspot, free calls to over 60 countries, and unlimited texting worldwide.

While they offer the above plans, they do not provide free cell phones or tablets. To participate in their offer, you must have a GSM-compatible cell phone. In addition to the compatible phone, you’ll need a BOSS Wireless SIM card. They charge $5 for the SIM card, but you get a $5 discount upon activating your service, so you get the $5 back. You can keep your current phone number if you wish.

From their website, BOSS Wireless appears to be available in all states. They even list territories that many wireless ACP providers do not.

Applying for Free Service

After meeting the qualification criteria, the next thing to do is visit getinternet.gov to submit an application. You’ll be required to upload documents proving eligibility. If you prefer to submit a paper application, download this application, complete it, and mail it along with the necessary supporting documents to:

USAC
ACP Support Center
PO Box 9100
Wilkes-Barre, PA 18773

Note: It is recommended that you include a cover letter with your application ID and name. This makes it easier for the USAC to match the proper documents to your application. Click here to see a sample of what they're looking for.

If you have any questions about the documentation necessary for completing the application, please review the Acceptable Documentation Guide for the Affordable Connectivity Program. It should answer any questions you might have.

Note: Never mail original documents. Send copies only.

Affordable Connectivity Program Approval Timeline

If you apply online, the approval should take less than a half hour. However, it sometimes takes up to 3 or 4 days if your documents must be reverified. And, as you can guess, the approval process takes a little longer if you mail the application.

Once your ACP application is approved, go to BOSS Wireless and click the apply button and complete the necessary form. Make sure the information on the BOSS Wireless application matches the ACP application exactly. Any change will cause a delay and possible rejection of the application.
