Unity Wireless Free Government Tablet

Unity Wireless is a wireless phone company participating in the Federal Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). Because they participate in the program, they are offering free smart tablets along with discounted wireless service.

The Affordable Connectivity Program helps low-income individuals/households to afford wireless devices and internet service at a discounted rate. With Unity Wireless, qualifying individuals will receive a smart tablet for the price of the $10.01 deductible as required by the ACP. In addition to the almost free tablet, you will receive free talk, free text, and free data and the device is hotspot enabled.

If you prefer, you can bring your own device and keep your existing phone number.

Unity Wireless Offers Three Free Plans

ACP Sim Only

If you choose to bring your own device, Unity Wireless will provide the SIM card (free) in addition to Unlimited Talk, Unlimited Text, and 5GB of data.

Unity Wireless Free Plans

You’ll have the usual features of Caller ID, Call Waiting, 3-Way Calling, and Voicemail.

ACP Data Only

With this plan, you don’t get a free tablet. You can bring your own device and receive a free Sim Card. In addition, you’ll get 8GB of Data and your device will be Hotspot enabled.

Since it’s data only, there are no talk or text options.

ACP Bundle Plan

This is the best of the three options. With this plan you’ll get the following:

  • Free smart Tablet that’s Hotspot compatible
  • 4G/5G LTE Service
  • 10GB of High-Speed data
  • Unlimited Talk
  • Unlimited text and Picture Messaging
  • And, the device is wifi calling enabled

The device comes with the usual features of Caller ID, Call Waiting, 3-Way Calling, and Voicemail.

Unity Wireless States of Operation

Although Unity Wireless has nationwide coverage, they’re only authorized to accept applicants in the following states:

Alabama, California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Wisconsin.

Qualifying for the Free Government Tablet

The ACP benefits are only available to those who meet the eligibility criteria. To take advantage of the free tablet and service plan, you must meet one of the following criteria:

  1. Have a household income that is at 200% or below the Federal Poverty Guidelines, or

  2. Participate in one of the following government assistance programs:*

    • Federal Public Housing Assistance (FPHA)
    • Medicaid
    • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
    • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
    • Additional Programs if living on Qualified Tribal Lands:

    • Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance
    • Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR)
    • Tribal Head Start
    • Tribally-Administered Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF)

    *Some states may have additional programs for qualifying. Please check with your state.

  3. Lastly, you qualify if you’re currently enrolled in the Federal Lifeline program.

If you’re not enrolled in the Lifeline program, but qualify based on one of the above criteria, the next step is to submit a Lifeline application at the National Verifier website.

Items Needed for Lifeline Application

Gather the necessary documents that prove your eligibility such as an Approval or Benefits letter from the government agency providing the assistance. Or, if you qualify based on household income, bring the necessary documentation. If you’re using pay stubs, you’ll need 3 consecutive months of pay stubs. Also, with household income, be sure to provide the number of individuals in the household.

In addition to proof of eligibility, you will need proof of identity and proof that you’re alive. The acceptable forms of identification are government-issued IDs such as a driver’s license, birth certificate, permanent resident card, or green card.
