Minnesota: Listing of Free Government Phone Providers
The Lifeline programs make it possible for low-income individuals who need help paying their phone bills to receive either free or discounted service. Qualified Minnesota residents have the option of participating in either the free government cell phone program or discounted landline phone program. While most phone companies participate in the discounted phone program (just call your phone provider and ask them), not all offer free wireless service.
Below is a listing of free government phone providers who currently offer free wireless service in the state of Minnesota:

Keep in mind that this list is by no means an exhaustive list of all the free and discounted Lifeline phone providers in the state of Minnesota, but it is a start. As more providers become available, this list will be updated.
Discounted Phone Line Phase Out
FYI: According to the Federal Communications Commission, the monthly Lifeline landline phone discounts are being phased out. By December 1, 2021 discounted phone (voice) service will no longer be available. The $9.25 monthly discount for broadband (internet) will remain constant, but the voice discount is being phased out is as follows:
The rationale is probably because more and more people are opting to use cellular service instead of landlines. Unfortunately, those who prefer landlines will either be forced to get a free cell phone or foot the entire monthly landline cost themselves.
