Montana If you live in the state of Montana and meet the eligibility requirements, you can apply for a free government cell phone made possible by the Lifeline program and Affordable Connectivity Program. Originally, qualified residents could choose between a free phone that comes with free talk/text and data, or a discount on landline service. However, now, with the creation of the Affordable Connectivity Program, there are additional options such as receiving a free or deeply discounted tablet along with free internet service.

A large number of phone service providers offer the monthly landline discount through Lifeline, but not all companies offer free wireless phones. If you're interested in the discount, call your phone company to see if they participate. Yep, of the 120,659 eligible households, only 3,205 are taking advantage of the program.
