Tennessee: Listing of Free Government Phone ProvidersThanks to the Federal Lifeline program, eligible low-income Tennessee residents can get help with their phone bills. There are two options:
While most phone service providers can offer the discounted landline option (call your current landline company and ask), not all wireless providers offer free phones. However, with the creation of the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), more phone companies are offering either a free device or a deep discount towards the purchase of a device such as a tablet, laptop, or computer. The plans vary from company to company so take your time and choose the right company and plan for you. Below is a listing of services providers that offer either Lifeline and or ACP benefits in the state of Tennessee
This list is not a comprehensive listing of all free and discounted Lifeline phone providers in Tennessee. As we come across more providers, we will update the list. Did You Know?: That as of April 2023, there are over 828,000 Tennessee household eligible to receive discounted phone service through the Lifeline program? However, only about 160,000 households are receiving the benefits. In other words, 81% of the eligible population are not receiving much needed financial help. This information can be found on the Universal Service Administrative Company website. Please share this information with anyone you know that might benefit from signing up.
